Shanz,
I just think "touch him" in 1 Jn. 5 is in an ultimate sense--i.e., eternally.
Thoughts?
Plev.
EP,
I probably agree with that (that's what the ESV SB says). My next question, though, would be, "What is the nature of the 'touching' that takes place now" (i.e. Job)? The reason I ask is because I was reading an article by Jay E Adams and he was saying that Job was a special "one-time" case and that we shouldn't expect the same thing to be happing now, and he reference 1 John 5:18 as a proof for that. I'm all for Nouthetic Counseling now, but I think that Satan is much more active than what they give him (and his demons) credit for. (Jam 4:7; 1 Pt 5:9) What do you think?
